Find the point where it stops
If you already have a completed APK but Android will not install it, go to installation errors. The checks below are for a download that does not start, pauses or fails.
If tapping Download APK appears to do nothing
Check the browser’s download list
The file may be downloading in the background. Open Downloads before tapping the button again.
Use your normal browser
If you opened the page inside a messaging or social app, use its “Open in browser” option when available. Some in-app browsers handle file downloads differently.
Read any browser message
Check for a blocked-download notice, storage warning or permissions prompt. Do not bypass a harmful-file warning. If there is no message, reload the page once and retry.
If the download pauses or fails
Check that your connection is still active and that the device has free storage. If other ordinary web pages also fail to load, resolve that connection problem first. If only the file fails, note the error before retrying.
Use a stable connection for an interrupted transfer. If you see a service or regional restriction, check the service’s availability and eligibility requirements before trying again.
Keep one completed copy rather than several partial attempts. If the browser offers Resume, try it once. If it cannot resume, remove the incomplete file before starting again from the download page.
Once the download finishes
Open the completed APK from the browser’s Downloads list or your phone’s Files app. The browser finishes the transfer; Android handles the installation that follows.
Use the installation walkthrough if you are unsure what comes next. If you receive a page or archive instead of an APK, inspect the file before opening it.
